Environmental Sustainability - Green Future Initiative: Small Steps to Save Nature
The Green Future Initiative (GFI) was launched in 2024 with the long-term vision of planting 50,000 saplings over five years to promote environmental sustainability and climate resilience. Since its inception, around 7000 saplings have been planted across Chitradurga, Hiriyur Taluk, and Bengaluru through collaborative plantation drives involving the Forest Department, City Municipality, Village Panchayats, schools, senior citizens, volunteers, and local communities.
The Foundation not only undertakes plantation activities but also ensures proper implementation by arranging advance pit preparation, following technical guidance from the Forest Department, and maintaining the saplings through regular watering to improve their survival. Alongside tree planting, GFI creates awareness among students and community members on environmental conservation, encouraging them to take responsibility for protecting nature and building a greener future.
BCSF’s employees, trust members along with the students of Padmashree School of Public Health participated in Green Bengaluru Initiative by planting native species saplings under the Bengaluru Urban Ecological Restoration Mission, coordinated by Bangalore Development Authority. This initiative has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records, for achieving the title of “The most plants planted by a team in 12 hours”
Through this initiative, BCSF aims to inspire collective community action towards sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, and a healthier environment for future generations.
