BCS Foundation

Introduction

B C Shivanna Foundation (BCSF) actively implements a range of community-focused initiatives aligned with its core mission of social development. Our activities are designed to create sustainable impact across environmental conservation, public health, education, and old age home. Each program is executed with a focus on community participation, long-term outcomes, and measurable impact.

Public Health Initiatives

Academic Collaboration and Internship Program

BCSF collaborates with academic institutions to provide practical exposure to public health students through community-based projects. Activities include tobacco awareness programs in schools, NCD surveys, and field data collection.

This initiative strengthens community health awareness while developing skilled public health professionals and supporting evidence-based interventions.

Tobacco Control and Awareness

BCSF supports initiatives to reduce tobacco use and raise awareness about its health risks. A multi-stakeholder event was conducted on World No Tobacco Day 2025 to address key challenges in tobacco control.

This initiative helped increase public awareness, encouraged collaboration with health professionals, and promoted preventive health measures.

Medical Assistance

BCSF provides financial support to individuals requiring critical medical care, including post-transplant assistance and hospitalization expenses. The initiative aims to reduce financial burden and ensure timely access to treatment.

Educational Support

B C Shivanna Educational Support Award

BCSF recognizes meritorious students from rural government schools through its annual award program. In 2024–25, 32 students received financial assistance of ₹4,000 along with certificates and mementos. A total of 126 students have been supported so far.

The program encourages academic excellence and motivates students to pursue higher education.

Educational Financial Assistance

BCSF provides financial aid to students facing economic challenges, ensuring continuity in their education and reducing dropout rates.

Environmental Sustainability

Green Future Initiative (GFI): Small Steps to Save Nature

The Green Future Initiative was launched to promote environmental conservation and increase green cover through structured plantation drives. This initiative focuses on long-term ecological sustainability and active community participation.

Chitradurga

Plantation activities were carried out in the Chandravalli area with the support of the Forest Department and City Municipality. Students, officials, and volunteers actively participated in the drive, contributing to the larger goal of increasing green cover. This initiative played a key role in promoting environmental awareness and encouraging community responsibility toward sustainable practices.

Bangaluru

Plantation activities were carried out in Bengaluru as part of community engagement initiatives, including the observance of World Senior Citizen Day. Senior citizens and members of the Foundation participated in planting saplings in public spaces and distributing them to parks and temples. The initiative contributed to enhancing urban green cover while promoting environmental awareness and community involvement across different age groups.

Hiriyur Taluk

Plantation drives were conducted in Higher Primary Schools in collaboration with the Village Panchayat and Education Department. Students, teachers, and local residents took part in planting saplings, helping extend the initiative into rural areas. The activity strengthened environmental awareness among school children and fostered a sense of responsibility toward nature at the grassroots level.
